Cafe Staff Member - Kitchen, Part Time
We are looking for a friendly, positive person with either all round kitchen experience or an interest in being trained to join our small team and run our busy cafe kitchen on Sundays and possibly also Mondays. This is to cover shifts when our main cook is off.
We are a small team of 5 where everyone can turn their hand to all the things that we need to keep our busy cafe running.
Within the team people have particular areas where they take a lead and we are now looking for someone to cover the kitchen preparing all dishes on our menu, ordering supplies as necessary and leaving the kitchen spotless for the next shift. You need to be experienced and cool under pressure and happy to work well with a small team.
Details
Regular shift: Sundays 8.30 am - 3 pm
Possible extra shifts: Mondays 7.30 am to 3 pm and some shifts where we have events on and need extra help (occasional evening shifts when we have events, and additional day time shifts where we have day time events eg football, Jazz, Family lego).
Pay: current rates of pay for team members are £9 to £11 depending on experience and level of responsibility, so this would be looked at on an individual basis.
Holiday: 5.6 weeks a year pro rata

[Vacancy Now Filled] Cafe Staff Member (events), Part Time
This is a varied role in a small team of 5 where everyone can turn their hand to all the things that we need to keep our busy cafe running.
Within the team people have particular areas where they take a lead and we are now looking for someone who can take a lead on developing our events and private bookings, making sure our customers are looked after and our financial targets are met. This is a key role for the cafe. The role includes:
Front of house duties - you will undertake front of house (FOH) shifts as either lead FOH person, or support for FOH. This includes barista duties and bar duties as we serve coffee and alcohol.
Kitchen duties - you will be able to prepare simple menu items (eg cheese toasties, soups etc) as well as provide support on busy kitchen shifts to the lead kitchen person
Admin - you will be able to complete admin tasks using GSuite software, Trail (hospitality app), and social media requests
Events - within the team you will be the lead person for organising events and private bookings making sure they run smoothly, that our customers feel very well looked after, and ensuring we are meeting our financial targets
Hours: regular 1/2 day a week on events admin plus hours staffing events and private booking. Details of our current events are available on the Harland Works website, events page here . At our current rate of activity this will require about 30 hour a month (in addition to the regular half day a week on events admin) , But we expect this to build so that the events role becomes 21 hours a week.
As a team we value a good work life balance and work flexibly to ensure that people's hours fit with their lives outside of work. We do need someone from this role for whom working weekends and evenings, when necessary, is not a problem. But these responsibilities are also shared across the team so that people are able to get a good work life balance.

We are open 5 or 6 days a week and part of a large building called Harland Works (see https://www.harlandworks.co.uk/) which is home to over 20 independent businesses including yoga, furniture making, opticians, tattoo parlour, theatre company etc.
We are looking for a confident friendly person to join the small, but dedicated team that run the cafe for our regulars, events and visitors alike.
We can give you training for any parts of the job which you are not already experienced in. If you don't already have your level 2 food and hygiene we will support to you to get one. You will also get barista training if you need it.
We have regular customers and popular events like Jazz Fridays, family Lego Sundays and Match Day breakfasts so you need to love providing great customer service. Our menu features home cooked food and we choose local suppliers for meat, coffee, milk, bread etc as part of our aim to source things locally.
